Quarterly Review
Well, it's been 4 months or so, which must mean it's time for me to update this thing.
First, a recap of my travels since we last blogged:
March:
1. Vegas - Do I even need to write anything? Actually, legally, I probably can't, so it's a moot point. Those of you who've been there can guess how it went without me saying a word. To those who haven't: go, right now. I don't want to hear any excuses like "It costs too much" or "I'm only 15." Just go, have a great time, and thank me later. With money.
2. Tempe Music Festival - Another great concert at Tempe Beach Park, though the night was cut short when a certain individual's drug problem got in the way. And by "drug problem," I mean "prescription pain medication to treat the effects of major surgery." But come on! Everyone else there who was on Vicodin really seemed to enjoy the show a whole lot more!
April:
1. Blue-Gold Game - Seeing Jimmy Clausen throw. Seeing family. Seeing Jimmy Clausen run. Getting to donate a check to the ND college of Engineering (on behalf of my company, but I'm counting it). Seeing Jimmy Clausen point at some random defender after lining up behind center. Falling into tickets to the ND football alumni luncheon. Plus, I got to see a sunnier day than I saw in 4 years in South Bend. Too bad I chose the no-hat, no-sunblock approach to tailgating, which led to me choosing the heavy aloe, heavy pain, and heavy peeling approach to my forehead and scalp for the next 10 days. All in all, though, still a great trip.
I only left the state once in April? Weak. May, I'm looking at you to pick up the slack.
May:
1. Corporate training, Seattle/Tacoma - Great time. And sunny! The area apparently only gets 6 days of sun per year, and I stole 5 of them for myself. Highlights included the Space Needle, Ivar's Seafood, Mariners-Yankees, going to the first Starbucks (joy), and, um, oh yeah - going to the top of the new Tacoma-Narrows bridge, 550 feet above the water. Quite cool and quite scary all at once, sort of like eating that 7-11 Taquito after 2 weeks in the fridge.
2. Memorial Day in Newport Beach - After nearly missing the early morning flight out and only packing half the clothes I needed (Curse you, The Library), things turned for the better. I got a nice little nap on the beach, something I hadn't done since 2002 (the beach, not napping. I've had at least 3 naps since then). Other trip highlights included visiting Sherman Oaks and Hollywood, and getting a lot of practice lying to people asking me for money on the street.
June: Coming Soon....maybe.
